LB07 Hot Guts cs16 Linear B is proud to release this 16 minute cassingle by Philadelphia's Hot Guts. With this release, they return to the gloomy post-punk landscape they explored on their debut 7" and follow-up split with Pop. 1280, but takes a more experimental approach that produces more cohesive results. These two tracks have a much more industrial and even psychedelic feel than previous efforts and might draw comparisons to Throbbing Gristle or Suicide. "Small Brass Cage" has a hard-hitting drum pulse that hypnotically repeats over minimal instrumentation with vocals that almost sound like monks chanting. The rhythm heavy groove of "Silent Runners" sounds it could be used in a hip-hop song. Thick synth riffs drive the song forward as the vocals tell a heartfelt tale of abandonment, until the song is inundated by a noise collage which takes over and goes bonkers until the end of the tape. LB06 Normal Love // Whore Paint cs09 Philadelphia/New York outfit Normal Love, known for their musical prowess and skill, put forth their rawest effort thus far in "Grimy Super Soaker." This outfit features current/former members of Satanized, Zs, and Burden. Providence's Whore Paint has been wowing audiences with their energetic live performances that have people calling them "the best active band." LB05 Signals "Maleficia" cs36 Philadelphia's industrial synth-rock trio takes a noticeably more experimental approach with their second release "Maleficia." In addition to their usual duties, Signals use scrap metal, broken glass, power tools and whatever else they can get their hands on to create an eerie soundtrack that our alien overlords will still be listening to after they've killed us all and are sucking the marrow out of our bones. LB03 Akasha Blade "You Will Be Recycled" cs20 Current member of Hot Guts and past touring member of Tickley Feather, Akasha Blade delivers a cassette of buzzed out surf garage rock experimental jams with buzzed amp faced drum machine and voice calling from depths of bat cave, (something like that, listen to the sound sample and be the judge). LB02 Mincemeat or Tenspeed "Dungeon Master" cs32 Apparently Davey Harms has legions of secret enemies both jealous and in awe of his feedback loop manipulation skills. For quite awhile Mincemeat or Tenspeed never used any instruments: no drum machine, no synths, no mics... he just turned guitar pedals on and off. It sounds like a recipe for boring, but to people's amazement, the results were superb.
